Anne Hart Anne Hart of Brooklyn

Anyone remember Annie's Brooklyn?

Remember me? Nerdy, geeky, science whiz Annie? I'm an author of 51 books now, fiction, nonfiction, stories, plays, scripts, articles, you name it. I went to P.S. 177 from 1946—Mrs. Smorack was my kindergarten teacher. Mrs. Zivot was my first grade teacher. Miss Fitzgerald, 2nd grade. Mrs. G. Lewis was my third grade teacher. The fourth was Mrs. Feldhuhn. The fifth and six, Mr. Manuel Levinson. Remember me? Annie? I write and teach creative writing online now. Back then I went to David A. Boody Junior High with homeroom teachers Mrs. Repke and Miss Olson in 7th grade, Mrs. Engel in 8th grade, my favorite science teacher. I graduated junior high in 1956. Got a 98 in the science final. The girls in my 8th grade class I sat next to in class 7-2, 8-1, and then 9-2, do you still remember me? If so, hello, there. Then I went to Lafayette H.S., where I took major art, drama, 4 years of French, earth science, English, history, and more. I graduated from Lafayette High in 1959. In 1959, I got a scholarship to NYU and graduated in 1964 as an English major, anthropology minor, then went to graduate school and got an MA in English/creative writing, then sat home and wrote book after book, article, after story on and on all this time 'till now, and I'm still writing, lots of how-to books and cat stories. That's from 1959 to 1999 and on and on and on . . . love that writing. I moved away in 1965 all the way to California, where I am 'till now, writing daintily from my home.

Who remembers Annie? I used to be known as L'il Orphan Annie because I looked like the comic book character with my curly hair and big round glasses. Anybody in my classes that I mentioned here? If so, e-mail me a hello if you remember anyone in your class named Annie. I'm here, doing okay and have kept on writing those books like I started when I was 10 with my first poem about my dearest kitten. Anyone remember me? Teachers? I lived a short distance from P.S. 177 near Kings Highway and West First St. So e-mail a hello if you were part of my classes from kindergarten through college. I've sent my photo. I was born in 1941, so if you're like me, you are probably a writer or artist too, seems creativity swirls around us gals born in the last months of 1941 in Bensonhurst. How about an Internet reunion? I live in Northern California with my 3 Siamese cats, Koko, Marcy, and Snowbelle, and I write novels and nonfiction, and love to read stories about cats, listen to classical music, and paint in acrylics or read archaeology books. I was the quiet, skinny girl who looked like Orphan Annie. Well, I'm having fun here being creative at home. Attached is my photo I took this year. Would like to hear from girls who went to school with me 1946-1959 or college years. I'm married for 25 years, nothing to brag about 'cept cats and books and paintings and memories of walking with my friends along the boardwalk and eating tasty food of all kinds with lots of friend onions under a summer sun.

Remember those translucent pastries filled with veggies? Fresh raw juices from parsley and carrots? I'm a vegetarian. . . . Was a quiet lifestyle back then, with lots of time for reading on the Beach and soft May breezes. Hello everybody from Annie.

Who's got a new spaldie,
Who's got a dime?
Eight of us here
With nothin' but time.

Skate wheel's broke,
Can't ride the milk crate scooter.
Open up the fire hydrant,
5 points for the straight shooter!

Odds or evens?
Pick your man.
You be the pillow
And watch for the hand.

Now run like the wind,
Jump as far as you can.
Hold on hard and tight,
Here comes the next man.

Last one's on now,
Man I wish he were light.
Last jumper raises 3 fingers,
He yells will all his might.

Johnny on the Pony 1,2,3,1,2,3!
Buck Buck, how many fingers?
Two! Two! Yells a voice from below,
In a tone of sudden eager.

Now later in life our backs have bothered,
And Doc say's its age, not to worry.
But I know where it's really from,
It came with the territory!
Brooklyn!!
