Final Examination

The final exam will constitute 20% of the class grade.

The final will be cumulative to the beginning of the quarter. It will consist primarily of short-answer questions with two mini-essays. The short-answer formats will be familiar from the midterms—though the questions themselves will, of course, be different. The questions aim to be just specific enough to test whether or not you’ve done the reading, without being overly picky. Beyond that, it’s more a matter of thought and analysis than of detail. The best preparation is to have been in class and have done the reading during the course of the quarter; to make up any reading you may have missed (including readings assigned but not discussed in class); to look over the texts and your class notes; and to try to relax and enjoy the ordeal as best you can.

The final will be given in our regular classroom on Monday, December 5, from 11:30–1:18 pm. (Note the 11:30 starting time.)

It is imperative that you attend the final at the scheduled time and place. This is extremely important in the eyes of the University, and no exceptions may be made except for unforeseeable emergencies of a serious nature, which must be rigorously documented.
